Powering Transformation

Powering Transformation is an exciting one day programme, providing the opportunity for Years 7 to 9 students to use the latest Dell technology in a creative and engaging setting. Transformation Trust is working with six universities across the country, who will be providing the backdrop for this programme.

The workshop will center around student's identifying a local social issue they are passionate about, and explore ways to solve the issue through the use of the Dell technology. Students will work in teams of 6, where they are tasked with planning and recording an interesting and engaging 2 minute video, outlining the issue or problem, why it matters to them, and an innovative technological solution. Schools will be given the opportunity to make some initial planning for the challenge prior to that day.

Teams will present with their videos at the end of the workshop to their peers and support staff on the programme. There will be a winning team from the day and an overall winning team from the programme, who who will recieve a laptop or tablet for each member.

The programme has a strong focus on developing students' key transferable skills including critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation. In addition, we hope to raise aspirations through visiting the campus and having a guided tour by student ambassadors of the unviersity, in hope of breaking down the barriers they may face when making the decision to apply to university or not.

We are currently working on our university partnerships for the programme. However, below is a list of Universities we worked with last year:

Coventry University

University of Essex

University of Roehampton

University of Leeds

University of Bournemouth

University of Bradford

Please do contact us if this is an opportunity you would like to get your students involved in!
